Sgt Robert Bales for the New York Times

I spent the weekend in Norwood, Ohio, where Sgt Robert Bales grew up. When I arrived early Saturday morning the only thing I had to go on was the address of his mothers home in Milford. I didn't know anything besides. I met up with a couple reporters for the Times, Theo Emery and Michael Cooper. It was the a giant Easter egg hunt. A lot of research involved, finding friends and connections to the family in the neighborhood was a challenge. A great assignment none the less.

Scottslawn Miracle-Gro CEO for the Wall Street Journal

I received a call from one of the editors at the Wall Street Journal to shoot some portraits of the CEO for Scottslawn Miracle-Gro, James Hagedorn. James flies from Long Island to Columbus a few times a week in the Cessna Citation Jet, which he pilots himself, to conduct his business at the companies headquarters.

I had to be there by 7 AM when he landed on the tarmac. I didn't have time to set up lights, it was dark as hell, I thought it was going to go south really quick. When I arrived at Lane Aviation, at the Columbus International Airport, I noticed there was some overhead lights right outside the door which saved me in the long run.

Belden Brick Company for Bloomberg News

I recently went to on a manufacturing shoot for Bloomberg News at the Belden Brick Company in Sugarcreek, Ohio. It was amazing to see how much work is involved in making clay and shale face brick. Assembly lines, bee hive kilns and 3000 plus acres with eight different plants on the site provided for a good day of shooting.
